These boots are designed for the no nonsense type of players that want to be recognized for their ability, not their flash. These are usually great sellers so if you are all about simplicity and no nonsense performance, and want to get your hands on a pair of these, be sure to act fast. These cleats are limited edition, and are only available in the FG (firm ground) versions.

The Story Behind the All Black Boots…

If you’re like me you’re wondering what the story is behind these all black Nike “Academy” cleats. According to Nike, the idea for these cleats came about when they launched their Nike Academy.

If you’ve never heard of the Nike Academy, it is a training camp (AKA academy) that allows some of the best young players from around the world to develop and showcase their talent in the hopes of getting signed to a professional team.

Often in environments like these, scouts will request that the players wear all black cleats. The reasoning behind this is that they don’t want any particular player to stand out just because of their boots. They want the players to stand out because of their play.

So, these boots were made specifically for academy players at first. They were made available on the market for any player that required the all black boot to compete in trials (try-outs).  That was back in 2015 when Nike released the first ever Academy pack.

However, they soon became popular among players of all kinds that wanted to make a statement about not making a statement with their boots. The cleats appealed to anyone who believed in the mentality that a player’s abilities should speak for themselves. They became the counterculture to the latest trends towards flashy, bright, vibrant boots.

To this day, the all black academy pack from Nike is a top seller. The release of these cleats are highly anticipated, and they are produced in limited quantities, so they tend to sell out fast. The 2017 release happened just last week, so be sure to act fast if you’re interested in snagging a pair.
