13. Soccer Shoes

We went with a classic to start things off. Every player, regardless of age, gender, or level of play is always on the hunt for good soccer shoes.  If they play competitively, they’ll need at least 3 pairs of shoes: cleats for the pitch, indoors for training on hard surfaces, and trainers for strength and conditioning.

If you know the players shoe size, you can’t go wrong with buying them soccer cleats, indoors, or trainers. Yes, ideally, the person would try them on first, but if they’re like us, they have a wish list of cleats they’ve already researched, sized up, and personalized online (ok, maybe that’s just us).

In any case, with a bit of sly investigating, and careful observation of the brands they already wear, you should be able to chose a pair of shoes for them that will match up well with their needs.

To help you decide on which shoes to buy, you can check out our reviews, or our shop for more selection of high quality shoes. We’re sure they’ll love the options we’ve put there, since our shop is carefully curated to only include the highest quality items for serious soccer players. Or click the button below.

6. Training Mask

If you could buy fitness for your athlete, wouldn’t you do it?

Well, giving the gift of a VO2 Max training mask is about as close as you can get!

A VO2 max mask works by limiting the amount of CO2 expelled by your body, which forces you to become more efficient with oxygen. All you have to do is wear it while you work out, and your aerobic endurance will slowly but surely improve with time.

Help your athlete boost their cardio with this awesome technology!

5. Music Accessories

Music makes everything better. Especially for athletes. Whether you’re training in the gym, kicking a ball around with friends, or working on your skills on your own, music makes it much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, music players are not always the best suited for these purposes. Earbud wires get tangled up, earphones can slip out of sweaty ears, or make you hot if they go over your ears. That’s why we recommend players that are specifically designed for working out, or wireless.

3. Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is the future of high performance athletic development.

I was recently working in a lab where my partner was conducting research into the training benefits of virtual reality compared to actual training. The results were astounding. Teams at all levels of the game will soon be using virtual reality to train their player’s skills and decision making without taxing the body. It will become a must-have for any aspiring athlete.

But in the meantime, it’s so much fun!

Virtual reality makes you feel like you are really there in the action. You put on a headset which wirelessly connects to a computer system and that allows you to look around in any direction.

There are deals in the works to allow people in the near future to watch live streams of professional soccer matches as if they were right on the sidelines of the game! However, at the moment, virtual reality has some really cool applications, including 3-D soccer games. This is a gift that is sure to please, as it will keep giving and giving for years to come.

2. FIFA 18

If you’re a player, fan, or even distant relative of a player or fan, you know all about these games. Memories are made. Champions are crowned. Feelings are hurt. It’s a good time all around.

FIFA 18 was just released. This is another classic that you can’t go wrong with (unless you buy the game for the wrong system!). This is a foolproof crowd pleaser.

1. Halo Sport

This is the coolest thing around, and the only thing that could knock FIFA from the top spot.

Get this: this is a headband that STIMULATES YOUR BRAIN TO LEARN SKILLS FASTER. You wear it during your workout, and it sends harmless pulses of energy to your brain, which basically scream at it to say “pay attention! this is important!”. The result is more skill gained from a normal practice session.

Halo Sport

I know what you’re thinking – does it actually work? Although we haven’t had the pleasure of trying it out ourselves, all signs are pointing to yes. The theoretical concept is well established, and there are plenty of athletes at all levels from around the world who swear by it. All signs point to a resounding YES …

…but there’s only one way to find out.

So, if you love your athlete, and you want them to have mad skills (even more than they already have), get them this headband! They will thank you x1000.

I especially love the part about player biographies! I always find these extremely interesting and well worth the read. Something new that I’ve never really heard of is iPad foosball! This looks pretty cool and something worth downloading. Is the training mask an actual measuring device? Is this not a hindrance for soccer players?

    • comment-avatar

      Hi Stephen,

Sorry for the confusion. No, the training mask is not a measuring device, and it’s not intended to be worn while playing soccer. The mask is to be worn when working out in the gym or doing conditioning/endurance work (i.e. going for runs). It doesn’t measure anything, it just acts as a barrier to limit gas exchange (air) while you’re training. Over time your body gets used to having less air and becomes more efficient with the air it does have while working. Thus, your endurance increases.

Larissa will be doing a post soon explaining the physiology behind this. Let me know if you have any other questions until then.

That iPad Foosball looks pretty cool. I’m tempted to get it, but won’t it be too small for adults to play? Or maybe it’s not meant for adults since adults can get pretty rough or physical when it comes to Foosball (if you know what I mean). I might be better off getting a real Foosball table.

I’m also interested in the Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Earphone. Have you tried that? I’ve been looking for the ideal headset to use for swimming – if such a thing exists. Do you know?

Lastly – is the Halo sport safe?

    • comment-avatar

      Hi Marco,

The iPad foosball is pretty cool. I haven’t tried it out myself, but I can confirm that it is for adults. It’s small, but that’s part of the fun. I found this video that shows exactly how small it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHhWIr_UaNE

I would say that the IP68 wireless headphones are a good bet for swimming. They are waterproof, so they won’t be damaged at all, but they also can’t transmit the bluetooth signal effectively underwater.

I could not find any evidence to show that Halo Sport is unsafe. It seems pretty safe, but I would not wear it for long periods (years) just to be extra cautious. I just wrote a full post on the Halo Sport here: https://performancesoccerhub.com/halo-sport-headphones/

Hope that was helpful. If you have any more questions please let me know!
